SUNDAY- WHAT TO DO...

Sundays are for sleeping in and relaxing before you head back to work Monday.

I went and bought a tree ( a tiny one), yes... I will only enjoy it for 4 days before I have to leave to Barcelona...but better late than never!  I don't know what I was thinking actually. I went to buy Christmas lights for the tree before I bought it, and for some reason I grabbed colored lights.  I ALWAYS have white lights.  I love white lights, it seems classic.  And even growing up we had white lights with red little bows on the tree.  I really don't love the way it looks, so I may be crazy and switch out the colored lights for white lights tomorrow. hahaha!!  What do you think??

For Dinner, I decided to make Chicken Pot Pie. Even though it's super warm out for this time of year, 70 degrees today...  I had roasted a whole chicken last night and wanted to use the meat since it was so juicy.

YUM YUM YUM.  Turnout out amazing.

While this little puppy was in the oven, I made tea w/ these cute jars I made for xmas presents...had to keep some for myself, of course.

Think I'll bake sugar cookies on Christmas eve.  I've got some fun green/red sprinkles and cute cookie cutters my friend Sarah bought me for a xmas present last year.  Oh speaking of, her b-day is coming up!!

OMG my friend Amber got hitched today!!  I missed her wedding since i'm so far away.  but not before I screen shot one of her snapchats she sent!!

Congrats to this little Mija!

Saturday before Xmas

The Saturday before Christmas, and I dread Christmas shopping in the city.  I've gotten almost all my presents ordered on amazon.com.  This year has been pretty slim with presents.  I did send out Christmas Cards, I hope they get there in time!

Before I started my dreaded shopping, I head out to the LES to meet some girlfriends for Brunch.
We went to the FAT RADISH.

We asked the nice waiter to suggest what his favorite thing on the menu was.  He suggested the "avocado & egg toast", it sounded so good that 3 out of 4 of us ordered it.  Well, I really should have ordered the celery root pie.  I was underwhelmed at the flavor in this dish.  Surprisingly!! I love avocado.  Well, I had two amazing hot toddy's, so it really made everything better.

Then I head out to Soho, where it was MAYHEM.  I shopped Top Shop for some great basic tee's I've fallen in love with there.

Uniqlo for a special someone that needs clothes bad!

Madewell for their Bien Fait collection (a gift for my friend in Barcelona).

And then headed to IGWT where I picked up a few treasures, also for some friends who shall remain unnamed until after the new year.

3 days till Christmas ya'll!
While I'm super sad I'm missing Amber my friends Wedding in Seattle this weekend, I'm happy not to be traveling.  I'm so exhausted from always being on the go.  Works been crazy, and with Christmas being right around the corner & my trip to Barcelona only 4 days away...I want to try and relax as much as I can.   I know Ambers wedding is going to be amazing! She's been doing so much planning and I know I'll see her again soon after she's a married woman!

So after shopping,
I made a delicious cinnamon apple brie cheese stuffed croissant tonight.  Delicious!! Made house smell so good.

Recipe can be found here:

Even though I burnt the top portion , this was still so delicious!  It needs to be eaten fast while hot.  Tastes like apple pie!

Okay, tomorrow, I do Barcelona trip prepping. Stay tuned!!

9 DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS- PRESENTS FOR THE BAKER

With Christmas being only 9 days away, I'm going to be honest... I haven't done ANY Christmas shopping.  Lot's of reasons here, been super busy, Christmas came way fast this year after Thanksgiving, and well... I live in NY.  There is no space for "stuff" in my tiny apartment & remember it's crazy expensive to live here... any spare money goes to bills, rent, food & just living.  So, I'm making a wish list, which is more like a "dream list".

So let's go by order...and please feel free to use this as Christmas shopping lists for yourselves!

DREAM KITCHEN LIST FOR THE BAKER :

Beautiful Brooklyn Dishtowels:

A whole cookie making set for $49.95

You'll need one of these when you make scones, or bake bread, or make pizza... handling dough is awesome when you have one of these bad boys...

Pastry Scraper/Chopper.

I love non wooden cutting boards.  The wooden ones freak me out, sort of house germs very easily.

I've always wanted one of these...it's a food mill.  I watched the barefoot contessa make mashed potatoes and process them in this food mill in like 10 seconds... she makes everything look so easy.
OXO- BRAND-

FOOD PROCESSOR- in an awesome color.  This is actually an amazing priced little item.  Can be found here at Whisk (best kitchen store in Brooklyn).

I actually don't have one of these, it's a potato ricer.  I guess it's same as the food mill.  Maybe the food mill works faster...

And what about a lovely cake / desert tray...??  Where the hell would I put this?  I'm not sure, but it's so pretty.  If you have space...good for you! Buy this!

MY FAVORITE COOK BOOKS:
1) What Katie Ate

2) The Commonsense Cookbook

3)  Smitten Kitchen cookbook

4) Sprouted Kitchen

NEW COOKBOOKS I WANT TO TRY:

A NEW COOK BOOK - brought to you by a new pie shop in Brooklyn, which  I must visit... it's on my list of things to do before Xmas.  Stay tuned for that.

You all know how much I love pies.

NOTHING EVER WRONG WITH COMFORT FOOD

I love the way the house smells when you bake bread... so why not a bread baking book?

GUYS- SOME OF THE BEST GIFTS ARE THE PRACTICAL ONES YOU USE EVERY DAY-
love my to go coffee mug- by OXO.  You can find this at Target.com

Very non practical are these mini cast iron skillets.  You can bake eggs in these.  Cornbread ,   Or make chocolate brownies in them.  They're pretty awesome.

This will seem odd, but the BEST present I've ever had, were sharp japanese kitchen knives.  I love to cook now, my cutting time has been cut in half.

LE CREUSET ANYTHING-- HEAVEN FOR THE KITCHEN MANIAC

This here is some sausage and gravy I made for biscuits this morning for my buddies... it was delish.

The biscuits needed to be double in size, and maybe needed more butter and buttermilk cream.  They were delicious, but really could have been better.  Well, that's how you get good... PRACTICE, PRACTICE PRACTICE!

See you tomorrow!
